As this stage of the Tús Maith Journal journey we are trying to develop the idea and system by getting feedback from experts and people that really know what they are talking about.
After some time trying to figure out which platform would be best to use we decided Instagram is the home of the people we after.
So I created a profile and started looking for my people, once I found them I just had to message them and ask for their help in testing the journal out.
Easy, right?
Wrong!…
Unexpectedly I found this part one of the hardest parts. Perhaps it’s because I had to be vulnerable and put my idea and system out there for everyone to see and criticise.
Whatever the underlying reason, it really set me back. I eventually had to force myself to message people. I would do crazy stuff like not message people that were currently online or if they messaged my back straight away with questions or a too detailed responses I would air them…
This is crazy behaviour I thought to myself. I am literally getting in my own way and sabotaging the project.
I always wanted to be a creator and an entrepreneur now I’m hindering myself. I couldn’t get past this, I kept procrastinating and justifying it.
A breakthrough came while out for a walk, listening to the Tim Ferriss Show episode with Brad Feld. In it Brad shares some advice one of his cofounders gave him when they were up against it and dreading heading to work.
“They can’t kill, they can’t eat you”
Something hit me when I heard that. I stopped dead in my tracks and immediately wrote it into Notion.
Since then every time I go to message or reply to someone online I say it aloud to myself. Strangers think I’m crazy, my friends and family already know.
It hasn’t completely got rid of the fear and resistance but it has helped tremendously and I’m getting better.
And I hope in sharing this it will help you…
Remember!
“They can’t kill you, they can’t eat you”
